Welcome to the Blog

Welcome to ACwords! This is my second attempt at blogging. My first try had its highs and lows, but mostly lows. This time around things will be better.

Here’s what to expect: I will occasionally post links that catch my eye, maybe offer a bit of commentary, that sort of thing. Substantial posts of my own work will center on personal philosophical and theological musings, art analysis and criticism like film and music reviews, political commentary, perhaps the occasional poem or short story, and whatever else inspires me.

It will probably help you to get an idea of where I’m coming from personally. I’m a Christian, often a bitter, confused and cynical one, but a Christian nonetheless (currently Baptist, to be specific, but I’m not at fan of a lot of the baggage that comes with the term). My faith shapes how I think about almost everything. I’m prone to mistakes and perceiving things wrong, but I still like to fancy myself somewhat open-minded. I hope to be a writer and a thinker in the public square. Occupations that interest me include journalism, teaching, and screenwriting. Right now I do social media, which is kind of in the ballpark.

Outside of professional life, I also write for two other websites – RedFenceProject.com and Schaeffer’s Ghost (Patheos).

A very intelligent man once said that if things were simple, word would have gotten around. This humbles me, but at least it makes life interesting.

best,

Andrew Collins

  1. Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed! I really enjoy your welcome – specifically, your thoughts on being a Christian and the image of the “Jesus brick.” You’re right, though, the best way to share faith is through actions.
